I am trying to change the width of the left pane  and for this I changed .leftpane attribute in the stylesheet editor (Admin->Site Settings->StyleSheet Editor) to add "width: 300px;"

But after applying the edit, the change does not reflect on the website. And when I go back to the stylesheet editor it does not register the change the I had made (.leftpane is still blank as before)

Any ideas on what to do to increase the width of the leftpane in the DNN_Blue Horizontal Menu Full Width skin ?

You will need to add the width setting in the skin, not in the style sheet.
