I have a client on DNN 6.1.4 and was in need of a module update. When I go to upload a module I get the following notice below the upload field:

Your site is configured with a maximum file upload size of 0 MB.

I am aware that in the web.config file there is code that can be adjusted... however in the web.config of this site I have the following code:

<!-- allow large file uploads -->
    <httpCookies httpOnlyCookies="true" requireSSL="false" domain="" />

 If I try to add the following line:

<!-- allow large file uploads -->
    <httpCookies httpOnlyCookies="true" requireSSL="false" domain="" />
<httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="40960" requestLengthDiskThreshold="40960" executionTimeout="1200" />

As it seemed to be missing - I get a 500 internal server error when the site is reloaded. Where can I get to the settings so that I can increase the file upload limits?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

are there any details on the error? did you make sure, upload folders are not write protected?

This site was able to upload modules before. An upgrade might have blown out that code. My bigger question is why when I add this line of code do I get a 500 error and the site comes down? That is more disturbing to me I guess.

I did not change any folder permissions since the last known time this did work.

Any thoughts so that I can update a module for them. Thanks.

Can anyone think of anything else with this? I have no idea why what I tried adding to the web.config file wont work. Any other thoughts - I can't upgrade any modules while it is doing this. Thanks.

There are different but similar lines for .NET 2.0/3.5 and .NET 4.0 !

Sample .NET 2.0/3.5 with 8MB upload:

<httpruntime requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192" maxRequestLength="8192" useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true"/>

Sample for .NET 4.0 with 8MB upload:

<httpruntime requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192" maxRequestLength="8192" useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" requestValidationMode="2.0" />
