Hi,
My sitemap page isn't working as it should.
My client has had me change the name of the site from bip.net.au to businessinsuranceprofessionals.com.au as he thought it better for the SEO we are attempting at the moment. Our host has pointed the site to this new address. So far so good.
However, when I am logged in as host and go to Admin>Sitemap there is an url at the top of the page. This url is http://businessinsuranceprofessionals.com.au/SiteMap.aspx. It is the url on this page that I have to submit to Google so that they can list the sitemap of the site. This URL, when clicked on, is supposed to show an XML code of the sitemap, which is what Google uses to crawl the site.
However, when I test the url by clicking on it rather than show the XML code for the sitemap page(as it should) it goes to the home page (which it shouldn't)
When I go into Admin>Site settings the sitemap URL is set to http://bip.net.au/SiteMap.aspx. So you can see, there is a conflict there with the two different addresses, they should match I think. I have tried opening another tab in the browser and putting in the http://bip.net.au/SiteMap.aspx address but it just takes me to the home page as well. I guess this is because of the conflict in the addresses.
When I try to submit both of those addresses to Google Webmaster it says they are HTML pages and not XML. I guess because of the conflict. Please help, I am really not understanding what is going on here.
Kind regards, Pamela
