I have just completed an installation on GoDaddy. The default main pane text says that I can login as 'host' with password 'host'.

I have tried this as I have some modules to upload but the login fails.

Do I have to login as Admin and create the host account?

No you do not need to login as admin and create the host account (both should be created automatically).

1) What version of DNN was installed, 3 or 4.

2) What permission does your database user have that DNN uses?

1) I have installed 4.30, the latest that you can download.

2) The database user configured in the web.config file has admin permissions

When you say admin permissions do you mean dbowner or are you limiting the permissions to less restrictive permissions (db_secuirtyadmin, db_ddladmin, db_datareader, db_datawriter)?  There is a big differnece and depending on the answer you give might know what is going on.
