I have a site that was put together by a consultant that uses Open-SmartModule. I have inherited this but don't have any specific experience. If understand, this module is also no longer available for Community Edition.

I am interested in purchasing a forms module and I am looking for recommendations. I am comfortable with traditional ASP.Net forms management (postback, etc) and that's what I'd like to use but I am not familiar with how to integrate this into a DNN tab (page).

I don't really have a great set of formalized requirements but the basic needs include:

  • Ability integrate easily with C#-written, server-side code (for server verification, forms processing, redirection on submission, etc)
  • Simple client-side field verification
  • Ability to populate field such as dropdowns from server-wide reference tables
  • Flexible for theme/styling

And so on. Someone recommended XMod but open to any and all recommendations.

Thanks.

Mark

If you are already working in c# and comfortable with coding then you would maybe be better off just building your own custom dnn modules for the task. Many of the existing forms type modules are closed shop affairs designed for non-programmer driven forms processing - and as such would not allow you to do your own c# backend processing. However, yes xmod pro 4 is a very powerful forms tool, and can be used to a certain extent to interact with custom c# server side code - this can be achieved thru AJAX and jquery on the client side or thru "after save" actions on the server side.Westa

You might look at Dynamic Forms from Data Springs. It is not cheap but I believe it will meet your requirements and can be d-loaded as a trial.

a free alternative would be DNN Form and List module, which sopports XSL rendering, at least for list and Detail view.
