We would like to set up our site in the following manner.

User: abc
Has Edit Writes to page: abc
Can upload images to folder: abc (only)

User: xyz
Has Edit Writes to page: xyz
Can upload images to folder: xyz (only)

User: 123
Has Edit Writes to page: 123
Can upload images to folder: 123 (only)

etc...

I've tried to create this environment both at the single user level and at the role level, but every time I log into the site with the user abc, I can upload files to any directory except for the root.  Shouldn't I ONLY have access to upload to the folder abc if that is the only folder to which I gave that user/role write permission?

Is this a bug?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

this sounds like a bug, which version of DNN are you using?

Did some more testing on this issue and found that the file manager through the HTML editor does work correctly, but displays incorrectly.

For example, I have an images/events folder

I give a specific user Open, Browse, and Write permissions for the events folder.

When I log in as that specific user and click on the events folder, I get an upload button... however, if I try to upload a file, the file does not actually get uploaded.  If I navigate to the events folder, the upload button remains and the upload works as expected.

If I can't upload to the images directory, why does the upload button appear?

Thank you

Why not simply have folks upload into their User folder? (My Folder or Users...###...###) This way, you don't have to create folders for people.
