That rules out the possibility of the domain changing during/after login.

I do, however, see the page "login.aspx" showing in the url that appears after clicking login. You also mentioned that "The login screen is not the AJAX login by the way."

By this do you mean that the login screen is not appearing in the usual DNN 6.2.x pop-up or that in Site Settings you had defined a custom login page rather than the default <None Defined> ?

When you hover over the login button or link displayed in your site's skin - what url do you see in the status bar at the bottom of Internet Explorer browser.

If you have access to the site's datbase using MS SQL Server Management Studio or other similar tool, please check the EventLog table for related errors that might be logged when a user attempts to login.

Thanks again William.

The login screen does not appear as a pop-up and I am not receiving any indication of a popup such as a popup warning in the browser. I am using an Artisteer generated skin and in the process the login page is created so I assume it would be classified as a custom login.

When I hover over the login button this is the resulting information in the status bar:
WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("dnn$ctr$Login$Login_DNN$cmdLogin", "", true, "", "", false, true))

I do not have direct access to the site's database but can request a backup.

I do not receive any indication of an error unless, as previously stated, I enter an incorrect value for password or username.

most likely there is an invalid logintabid in portallocalization table for your website in the database. check the value and replace it by Null to get default login control displayed.

Thank you Sebastian. I will try to get a copy of the database, check the portallocalization table and get back with you on the result.
