When I setup a new website I usually setup a separate page for login and one for registrations.  I follow the excellent video presented here.  In DNN 6.x it works.  In DNN 7.0 it does not.

My issue is that when I drag the Users and Roles module onto the page (any page) I only get one module  - the security roles module.  Nothing else.  Usually I get three modules and one of them being the registration fields.

Please help, explain or show me what I am doing wrong.  Maybe it's my installation, but I am not sure.

There are actually two separate but I guess related issues here ... Firstly

Since DNN was developed there has always been a concept of Modules that can contain Multiple module definitions.   The User and Roles module has always been one of these.   When you drop the module onto a page it automatically adds multiple module elements to the page.

BUT, in dnn7 the new drag and drop control panel actually does not seem to understand the concept at all.  It only seems to see the FIRST module definition and thats all it is willing to drop onto the page.

The only workaround to this that I've found so far - is to login as Host and go into Host Settings -> Other Settings - and change the Control Panel setting from Control Bar to Ribbon Bar - this will revert you back to the OLDER style ribbon control bar - which WILL add all three module definitions to the page.

HOWEVER -- while this DOES work - what you do need to understand is that the Registration module that will be ADDED to the page is NOT the same module that you are seeing by default when there is NO custom registration page.   The module you will have added is the OLD legacy registration module that does NOT include all the new features found in the default rego page.  Things like custom field control and such.

For no fully explained reason - this actually started happening back in 6.x  and  to date there has been no actual module made available that can be added to a page which offers these new modern features ...

So just to be clear...if I want a usable customized registration module I should use DNN 6.x not 7.x?

I am trying to work with  7 on this for a client, but alas nothing I can come with except dev a new registration add-on myself appears to work.

I suggest using a 3rd party registration tool like DataSpring Dynamic Registration.

I'm using DNN CE 07.01.00 and you should be able to see the Account Login and Account Registration Modules from the Control Panel > Modules > Add New Module. They should be the first two modules you'd see in the "All" category.

Hope this is not too late...
