Hello, first time poster long time lurker here.  I'm wondering if it is possible to run an entire DNN installation in 'readonly' mode.  What I think I want to do is this;

We will have DNN running on 2 different farms.  One farm is publicly accessible and will be cached using Akamai.  The other farm will not be cached by Akamai and will not be publicly accessible.  All DNN installations will use the same database and store portal assets in a share that is accessible from both farms.

I would like to disable all authentication/administration/etc... features on the DNN installations in the public facing farm and enable on the secondary farm.  In other words, content updates can only be made from the more secure farm behind the scenes.  I want to do this for 2 reasons, 1) More security. 2) I don't think that the Admin features will work behind Akamai.  2.1) Maybe better performance due to less resource consumption?

I was about to start hacking away at DNN source to built this in (Hack it in), but figured I should check here first.  Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

That's an interesting question. I never tried that but I would guess that for the first invoke you must have it writable. After that I guess you can go back to read only.

Thanks Yehuda.

 I intend to develop the solution locally and deploy it to both farms using xcopy.  I'll also backup and restore the DB to production when ready so DNN will start in this scenario fully installed.
