Hello all.  This is my first post here, so please forgive me if I am unfamiliar with the local protocols.

I have just created an Intranet site at work using DNN 6.2.3.  I am running it on a server with Windows Server 2008 R2 and IIS 7.5.

I have uploaded a file with a .rsf extension (a settings file for a terminal emulator used by our company).  I am using the site to keep current versions of these files for users to access without having to email them all over the place.  I had to add .rsf to the allowed extensions to get the upload to work.  I could then link to the file in the content of a module... everything looks fine.

When I click on that link I get an error 404 every time.  I don't get that error with .xlsm extensions, which I also had to add to the allowed upload list.  I googled the problem and found that IIS will trigger an error 404 when the extension is not permitted.  I checked the IIS settings and added the .rsf extension as being specifically permitted.  I still get the error.  I didn't find any other documentation on what might be causing the problem.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

Bill Benton

I found the solution.  I had to add the extension .rsf to the MIME Types in IIS.
