Hi,

Can anyone help me to connect a IIS Binding to a child DNN portal please?

I am having an issue with one page in the site, and was hoping to log into the site via localhost on the server to view the error details.
(Rather than expose the full error message to the world)

But the localhost binding opens the default website (Portal ID 0), rather than the portal experiencing the issue (Portal ID 1).

I have tried:
creating a new binding in IIS (LocalHostDNN) and then in host settings for the site (ID 1) added an alias for that name (LocalHostDNN), restarted IIS and then was unable to browse http://localhostdnn
creating a new binding in IIS (dnn.LocalHost) and then in host settings for the site (ID 1) added an alias for that name (dnn), restarted IIS and then was unable to browse http://dnn.localhost

Surely this should be a simple task!

DNN 7.02, Windows Server 2008 / IIS 7, SQL Server 2008

I'd try http://localhost/LocalHostDNN and see if that helps.

if not, in IIS, point to the portals directory for 1 and bypass any DNN settings. For example, let's say your install is called "DNN". Change your binding to point to http://localhost/dnn/portals/1. You shouldn't need anything else within IIS.

Thanks Mark.

Backed out and redid everything and your suggestion worked:

Note the full address is required in the alias "localhost/localhostdnn" but only the partial in the IIS Bindings....

FYI here are my working settings:

IIS Bindings for Default WebSite
Type IP Addressed Port HostName
HTTP All unassigned 80 localhost
HTTP All unassigned 80 localhostdnn
HTTP All unassigned 80 .net.au

Site Id Site Aliases
0 Default Website localhost
1 localhost/localhostdnn
1 .net.au

Restarted Dot Net Nuke
Restarted IIS
Restart WWW Service

Navigated to:
http://localhost/localhostdnn

Portal 1 opened.
