I am prototyping and trying to decide whether or not to use DotNetNuke or Visual Studio to build our web site.  We are planning a landing page for use as the click through page for web advertisements.  This landing page will offer to play a video.  Using YouTube is out of the question.  We have our video stored and available in a streaming service.  We can stream the video in many formats such as Flash, HTML5, etc.  HTML5 is preferred and I got that working by adding appropriate HTML into an HTML module on a page.

The problem is what to do when we bump into a non-HTML5 browser.  I am thinking that we cold use Flash Player in these situations but don't know how to pull it off.  Any thought regarding how to render different video formats based on browser identity or capability?

Hi,

For that you can check the name and version of the browser
navigator.appName,navigator.appVersion(javascript code)

And check is that browser is compatible to HTML5 or not
and play accordingly.

Thanks

Cheers..!!!

Thanks...that's what I thought the answer was.  I don't like Java script as it too is browser dependent and subject to manipulation.  I was hoping there would be a design time option in the module to assign affinity to various browsers.  Perhaps we'll build a custom module that will render different HTML based on browser type and handle it on the server side.

Cheers!

That is a better option, as every thing can be managed at server side...:)

Cheers..!!!
