Apparently 6.1.x doesn't work under IE10 where the login function seems to be messed up so u cant login.
I therefore was forced to upgrade a 6.1.0 portal and it crashed the site.

The upgrade started and it showed the part where it goes from one version to the next with "Success" written in green at some and "Error" written in red at other.

Two of those came out with "Error" and after that it didn't finish the last line with either "Success" or "Error", then the site was crashed. :-(

Are there any guidelines regarding how many versions to skip between upgrades? Ive upgraded a couple of 6.1.3 to 6.2.5 which went just fine without any problems at all, but apparently asking it to go from 6.1.0 is too much?

Cheers

I had something similar, one day a woke  and could not login under any browser.

After plenty of troubleshooting i decided to see if upgrading would help. what I did instead copied both the database and the website. I allowed that to install before the upgrade, once installed I tried to login and it worked.I am still on 6.2.2

One of the tech trying to help me thought it could have been the cache, but when I got it working didn't care anymore. I did accidentally tripped the breaker on the server the night before.

Maybe this helps.

Thx for the input Franc. :-)

So far the solution for me ended at not upgrading, i had the hosting provider do a rollback using their backup and i simply didnt dare try to upgrade again, because the hosting provider charges me 299,- dkr. (approx. $50) to do a rollback. :-(

I found however, that the problems seems not to exist from 6.2.2 like u r also experiencing, but for the 6.1.0 the problem was fixed by clicking Internet Explorers compatibility icon next to the address bar.

However it means that every IE10 user will have to do it and I quite frankly doubt that they'll all be considering that by themselves.
