Hi All,

After upgrading from v7.0 to v7.1 I thought we would try the new advanced url management and activated it by making the change to the web.config file as instructed in this wiki article http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/Page/...

Unfortunately every page except the home page now returns 404 error. I know the new advanced url format is working because if you try and navigate directly to a page the url is re-written removing the .aspx extension but the 404 error is returned instead of the page.

I have tried a restart and app pool recycle in IIS with no luck. I even managed to login by navigating to a browser cached address (although the normal login pop-up returns a 404 the same as other pages) and clear the site cache from the tools menu but trying to navigate to any admin page also returns a 404.

I have tried clearing browser cache and using different browsers but still no luck.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to why this is occurring?

Thanks in advance

im afraid I don't have any good suggestions, except to try looking at the requests in a httpproxy such as fiddler to see what is happening before the rewrites. It may also be an idea to wait a few days as 7.1.1 is out, and whilst I don't see your particular issue there are ~175 issues resolved in that release so perhaps it will be fixed

Thanks, but no success with 7.1.1 either.

I have tried a clean/new installation of 7.1.1 on our web server and the same issue occurs until you edit the web.config and change the setting from advanced to humanfriendly after which it works fine.

After doing some research there seems to be a lot of people having issues that seem related to the new URL rewriter.

I have managed to get a new installation of 7.1.1 working on a local machine with the URL rewriter configured to advanced so I started to look for differences between the 2 installations and the only difference I could find was that the local machine was using IIS7.5 and the web server is still using IIS7.0. Is it possible that the new URL rewriter is only compatible with IIS7.5?

DNN 7 should run on IIS 7 and ASP.Net 4.0, I am not aware the new version requiring IIS 7.5

I believe the problem is with a missing update that is required for extensionless urls (i.e. ones with a .) - please try installing http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980368
