AFAIK it's not possible to force asp.net to reference the bin folder before the GAC unless you have strong named signed assemblies (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/62...). I've kept https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/brow... open for now, and added a few comments to bring it up to date (and a possible solution of using a custom contract resolver to force lowercase which may work - though I'm reluctant to do so as it may break some 3rd party json [we could probably do it by adding a new API method that indicated the requirement for lowercase and defaulted to False)

Thanks Cathal. The host says that their  current version 4.5.11 is more recent than DNN version 4.5.1.7, and this would be downgrade.

I have tried to modify DNN library to serialize using CamelCasePropertyNamesContractResolver  it bypassed some errors (password strength meter), but other errors still exist especially that with dropdownlists keep loading forever.

Hi Cathal, I think the problem is not only case sensitivity , if you used any NewtonSoft.JSON.dll with version different / above the version included in DNN(4.5.1)

this will cause a problem with "internal services" it will not be able to redirect to Internalservices/API

for example this URL is requested by Ajax:

DesktopModules/InternalServices/API/ItemListService/GetPages?sortOrder=0&includeDisabled=true&includeAllTypes=true&includeActive=false&includeHostPages=false

it runs fine until we change the NewtonSoft dll version to any newer version:

it gives 404 error.

can you please advice how to work around this I am ready to apply a fix on source code to get my site running.

Any Ideas ?

In addition to the affected modules already mentioned for this issue, I have found the same symptom (spinning, waiting forever) when attempting a file upload in the Admin/File Management module. DNN 7.3.1.

The problem ended when the hosting service installed exact DotNetNuke Newtonsoft DLL in their GAC instead of the one they had (more recent version)
thank you and thanks to the flexibility of hosting provider (Sector Link)
