(using dnn7.2.0) Hey all this may sound stupid and I cant figure it out, at the top of all my pages for the site is the black dnn banner that says edit page how do I take that off so that the general public does not have to see it? it is ok for admins, but I want it gone for the rest of the world to see... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

that only shows to users with rights to edit the page or to edit one of the modules on the page - if you do not grant these rights then those users will not see it i.e. check you have only granted "view" and not "edit" to groups such as "all users"/"registered users"

Changing from Controlbar to Ribbonbar under Host Settings will remove the dnn logo.

@ cathal connolly I checked the settings for all the pages and they are all set to view only.

@ Robert Fulop That solved part of the problem, it got rid of the black banner and the dnn logo but it is still showing the Mode: Edit drop down list.

If anyone wants to see what I am talking about the website is marltonlakes.

I would appreciate any further ideas from anyone and thank you in advance for any!

It's hard to see but I believe that you do have something on the page which is set to allow anonymous (or all users) edit access - the control panel can detect this. Note: it may be that it is an empty html module or something else. You can see this by logging in as host and going to admin->site settings, clicking advanced settings, then expand usability settings and change the control panel security setting to "page editors" - now when you log out you will no longer see the control panel (except in cases where you have edit permissions at the page level)
