Hi,

After upgrading to 7.2, I noticed the site now has a notification feature and a numerical alert in the login toolbar. Clicking this takes you to a message centre.

Is there anyway to disable this behaviour? I don't wont number alerts, or a message centre.

Is this controlled by permissions perhaps? Also, is there any documentation about this whole "Notification" feature?

Thanks,
Rod

yes, you can switch back to the old behaviour by using legacymode, or control the individual bits by properties - see http://www.dnnsoftware.com/forums/for...

Hi Cathal,

Thanks for your response. Can you please tell me what file I would find that line of code in? That thread is confusing and doesn't specify which file?

Citing a configuration line is useless unless we know which file, and where it is.

Thanks,
Rod

You need to make a change to the markup/layout code for the SKIN that is currently controlling the layout of your site.

Without knowing what skin you are using it would be all but impossible to tell you exactly where to look - but - you can start by looking in the root files of you site using ftp \Portals\_default\Skins\name_of_your_skin\.

Inside that folder will be a number files - some ending in .ascx  the file that starts with the exact name of the skin element you are currently using will be the one you need to edit.

Inside the markup of that page will be some markup that starts with <dnn:USER ....   and ends with />   replace the entire block with something like:

< dnn:USER runat="server" id="dnnUSER" cssclass="LoginTokens" ShowUnreadMessages="false" ShowAvatar="false" />
