Confirm Email Address

We get users typing a duff email address on registration.

I had an idea - I created a new Profile field called 'ConfirmEmailAddress'

I added this to the Registration form.

I added a Validation Expression of :

[User:Email]

Thinking that maybe tokens could be used in the Validation Expression for a field.

Doesn't seem to work though!

Any ideas how to achieve this?

I think it's not going to be very easy, you would need to reference 1 profile field from the other. I think there are 2 ways you could do this:
* create a second email field, and then create custom client side validation (with jquery) that you just inject in the page that has your registration form. Using jquery, you can compare values of 2 input fields, and inform the user the fields are not equal

* create a new email field type (requires server side programming), and incorporate the email validation there.

I would create a custom Profile Property Type with 2 text boxes, which compares values against each other and validation regex, an stores just a single value in the database.

I have learnt how to add a custom profile property, but how would I compare [user:email] and the new property [profile:ConfirmEmail] ?

Would I need to modify login.cs / login.aspx ..? or can it be done without doing t his.
