Hi!

We have used DotNet Nuke since 2009 and it has worked perfect. Until recently...

We have encountered som many problems when uppgrading from dnn6.2 to dnn7.0 that we had to build a new site in dnn7, we even tried Ted's solution (we had the "an unexpected error has occured"-problem too) but that didn't work, and when trying to use the backups none of them worked. The new site in dnn7 works fine. The problem is, we had added another parent portal to the site in the previous versions, and this worked just fine to uppgrade and maintain from versions 3 to 6, but now we don't understand how we could make the connection to the database in dnn7. We succeed in adding the new parent portal, with the new alias, and we get to the IIS page. But since we have our portal on a web host server, we don't understand how to make the connection. Our web host asks us why there is nothing in the other portals space, not even a config-file, but that was how it worked with the other dnn versions, we just pointed to the master site's root?

Is it not possible to add other parent portals in DNN7? If it is possible, how could we connect them to the database?

I would be very grateful if someone could answer this, because we liked very much to have the multiple portals going on a single host space.

/Anna

you need to point all domain addresses for all portals to the same IIS website, DNN will handle to load the correct website, which has a matching Website Alias (Admin > Site Settings, 2nd tab).

Thanks for your help last spring. It worked. It was the web hotel that needed to restart our applications over at theirs and since then it has worked just as good as the old DNN site.

Anna: Just as an FYI. You can force a restart of the application by modifying the web.config file. How I do this is: Download the web.config via FTP. Open and save the web.config. Upload the web.config file via FTP.
