Hi Guys

bit of background I was/am having a problem with someone managing to upload pages to the root of the DNN folder I use resulting in the websites I host being hacked I've locked the server down only 2 ports open now ;)and made the default.aspx and default.aspx.cs pages read only this has stopped most of the trouble they are still getting in but only with a default.html page.  It was suggested by Sebastian that it may be the FCKeditor and that I should try the CKEditor well... as I said most of the activity has stopped but the editor is broke:( the editing box is not showing I've followed the instructions for the latest version of DNN6 the instalation went fine no errors but no editor the radio buttons and preview appear

any suggestions have I missed something ( more that possible) if so I may be too close

thanks in advance

Pat

I don't believe it's fckeditor - the well known issue with it was fixed in 4.8.6. Typically when you see *.html pages uploaded within a site that suggests that there is a server level issue (e.g. missing windows patches, or missing security patches on a server product such as a hosting panel etc.)

I agree with Cathal - my guess would be FTP...

Thanks for your reply guys

I'm not too worried about the unauthorised uploads ( well maybe just a bit ) I only have http and DNS ports open and server fully upto date on patches but I'll nail that upload issue down soon

I'm more concerned that i cant get the CKEditor working... here's a question would the fact that the instalation has been upgraded through different versions 5 - 6 make any difference and therefore I would have to make the changes to the web.config file?

Cheers

Pat

Pat, CKeditor should work fine on new and upgrades sites - I have one, which has been upgraded from DNN 3 with FTB3 via FCK and now CKEditor without issues.
Be aware, however, that it is mainly based on JavaScript and clientside JS code in the skin or modules may break it.
I suggest deleting ckconfig file in your website root folder and retry.
PS: Yes there is a known security bug in the FckEditor version, that shipped last with DNN.
