A low volume  has been inundated with bot registrations before we noticed.  I have been able to delete all the bad users, all the bad folders, run the recursive file doo-dad, but I have NOT been able to get to site settings to turn off registration (which we don't really need)

I'm pretty desperate - can someone help me figure out how to fix "site settings " (error below) or how to get to the registration disabling settings if not that?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR WHATEVER HELP YOU HAVE TO OFFER!

Site settings throws a generic object reference not set....error.  Below are the specifics:

Edoardo,

I was able to disable the registration by going into the database in some settings table and setting the registration for the portal to 0 or 1.  Since I had another portal with disabled registration I was able to copy the setting confidently.  If you need more info let me know, I will log into database and check for you.  I did have to get my host to give me DB access to solve this issue - I was unable to use the dnn user management to delete or disable users.

Folks, I'm still getting this error, I'm guessing some record that the loadfiles method refers to is deceased. I'll look but advice would be really helpful.
