Hi @ all,

we are trying to set up a homepage with DNN 7 Platform with web farm support.
This idea came up a few days ago. After try and error and searching and reading guides for hours and hours, I decided to ask right here if anyone may have any hints how to do that.

We exactly followed the steps from this guide (which seemed to be the best so far)
      http://www.dnnsoftware.com/Portals/0/SiteFiles/OtherAssets/Web_Farm_Configuration_Guide_4_1.pdf
but without success.

Is it even possible to run DNN Platform on web farms? If yes, how do we manage the installation?

 So far,

 Tim

yes, it's ran on many different webfarm configurations successfully - DNN platform uses the file based caching provider and Evoq ships with a web based caching provider. The web-based is easier to configure. In general failures with the file based caching provider are windows permissions related, or that the sites have not provisioned a domain user via aspnet_regiis

Ok, thanks

But we are missing some things, e.g. the point professional settings which is mentioned in the guide. Is that exclusive for PE or is it a bug in dnn-platform?
And one more thing: under host->host setting->basic settings->configuration there is a checkbox "Is Web Farm". Does this checkbox have any functionality and is it necessary for using dnn on a web farm? I'm asking because it seems to be deactivated and it's not possible to check it anyhow

Professional Setup is PE (Evoq) only.
Is Webfarm should get enabled automatically, if the site is running on multiple web heads.
For caching have a look at Aricie caching provider on codeplex.com.

Hm, I guess we made something wrong.
We put up DNN-Platform on two webserver (Download DNN-Platform -> register as website -> install). Both with the same database but "Is Web Farm" stayed unchecked.

Then we tried to put the installation to a shared folder and point the server to it but same result
