So in continuing to clean up the event logs, I am on to my next issue...

Some of my users avatars are causing errors in the event log when users are either viewing their profile or the avatar is displayed within a forum posting (using Active Forums). The error that is showing up in the event log is a Page Exception as below:

The interesting thing is that the avatar that is not working is only 52K while the one that is working is 336K in size.  I've got some links to screenshots of the images:

  • Profile Page - Avatar showing, however Journal Entry avatar is not showing
  • Profile Page - Member Directory Avatar not showing
  • Profile Page - Avatar showing, Journal avatar showing
  • Profile Page - Member Directory Avatar showing
  • Active Forums Posting - Avatar not showing
  • Active Forums Posting Avatar showing (this is on the same page as the one not working)

Hopefully someone has seen something like this...

might this be caused by the type of the image file?

Unfortunately they are both jpg files (lowercase in both), and both have spaces in the name.

Accepted Answer
So I downloaded the avatar in question and did an autofix with Adobe Photoshop Express for Win8, re-uploaded the file and voila, it now shows. Something must have been corrupt in the file.

I would be a little suspicious of any jpeg that can cause an out of memory error
- you might want to verify that your hosting has a strong virus checker running.
There have been examples in the past of hackers trying to inject script into
web hosts using jpeg images as the vector - most were php based but would be worth a check.
