Here's what I'd like to do and I'd like some input on the best way to accomplish this.

We have a customer who wants a highly available site by having a second serving location act as a hot spare so to speak.  The primary site would be a full DNN7 running IIS 8.5, SQL 2012R2.  The second site would be on a completely separate hosting provider in a different part of the country with the same hardware/software setup.

This would not be considered a web farm as we are under the assumption that if the first site fails, the SQL server will also be unavailable.

We would be using DNS Made Easy to check for content on the site and if not there, point DNS to the fail-over site, with a low TTL.

I know I can do file replication in a myriad of ways.  And I can do SQL replication in a myriad of ways.  But is that the right and best way to have a fail-over website?  I don't see any DNN specific product solutions for this.

Thanks in advance for any advise.

 Kevin

Have you considered a cloud based solution?

DNN on an AZURE platform would handle all that 'failover' for you ... automatically triggering reallocation of resources to an appropriate alternate datacenter if the current key datacenter failed.

And likely at a much lower price point that separate dedicated hosting locations.
