I have created a profile field that displays a list and want to use the same list on 2 portals but I cant add the same text and value field values with the same parentID for different portalIDs.  What is the parentID.  Can I just use a random ID (say 1) ?

Update
I just added entries manually in the lists table using a different parentID. Worked of course but the records do not appear in the profile list for that field so I assume ParentID is used there.
And of course, there is still no mechanism for adding duplicate named list entries for different portals via the UI.

List is a crappy beast and table indexes are not properly defined for this use case.
I'll try to provide you with a script to fix it, but it may take 2-3 days.

Thanks Sebastian.

I had assumed the system was pretty well bullet proof, and that the index structures were designed that way for a purpose.

I changed the indexes to include portalID and that now allows duplicate list entries for different portals.

 

I now have a different problem - not sure if it's related so I'll open a new thread.

But briefly - When I edit a profile custom property, the readonly, visible and required flags always get set to true when I click the 'Next' button on the wizard.

I have tried to trace the program thru debug, but they are changed from false in some external code in between the LinkToMobileSite. event handler and the Wizard_NextButtonClick method.
