What are the best ways to migrate a website that you developed locally to a server?

I'm currently running on the DNN 7.0+ platform and using sql 2008. The server is sitting on windows 2008 server. I've moved the local files over to a development server and when I run the website, it flickers with infinite loops of refresh for a while and then it stops. In addition, all my pages were denied from access, execept the home page.

Any suggestions?

I'm a huge fan of Bruce Chapman.  I found this blog article to do things in reverse ... get the web content and database off the server and to my local dev environment, set it up and actually have it work! :)

This will have the procedure for going either way, actually.  Pushing the content and any db edits up should be intuitive.  Bruce is a very skilled writer and he describes each step of the process.

Let me know if this worked.  I'm thinking there's a step or 2 omitted that just might be covered in his blog.

If this doesn't work, I'm thinking maybe something in the web config on the server got over written?  So another idea is compare your local and server web configs?  I don't know off hand right where I'd look but since this idea is already getting confusing I'm saying transpose Bruce' blog steps into your process and see if that doesn't drop something out of the hamper.
