I have had to restore the DNN database and move some things from another system and am now getting module load failures on the FAQ and iFrame modules.  I have searched for this in the forums and found that I did have an incorrect password for the database in the AppSetting.  I corrected this but the errors persist on just these modules while the rest of the site (on my local system) seems to work properly.

I would appreciate any ideas or pointers about how I can correct this problem.

Thanks!

The core of the error generated for the module failures is:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

The system is now displaying all modules happily.  The caching must have been causing the change of the database in AppSettings to not take effect until the system was restarted.

As the error says it seems that you have IIS and SQL on different servers. If that is so you need to configure the SQL server to allow remote connections. This is done from within the SQL Server Surface Area Confguration.

Thanks for the reply and thoughts but there is a single computer in play at the moment.  I know the message states that the ‘remote’ computer may not being allowing ‘remote’ connections but the only computer is my test box.

What was most strange was that the problem only seemed to afflict the 2 module types.  Only the FAQ module on the home page and several iFrame modules on multiple pages emitted this error.

As far as I can tell, the root cause was that I had the wrong SQL account listed in the AppSettings for the database.

Now, if only I could get my production site working I would be actually happy.  I am hoping that I can get more ideas going at this thread.

Thanks!!
