Hi,

I am a Systems Administrator, one of our web developers uses DotNetNuke for a website and they asked for assistance with SMTP settings.

They are using a yahoo account which requires SMTPS.

I have configured the proper settings

server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com:465

Use SSL: Checked

Plain authentication

user@yahoo.com

But it says "there is a problem with your mail server configuration".

I have tested this using a mail client on the web server and it works fine which rules out any firewall issues.

I have found some old posts in forms with people having SMTP issues with Gmail and other SMTPS providers but no resolution was found.

Is there known problems with using DotNetNuke and SMTP servers from Yahoo and Gmail?

Thank You.

one requirement is the email account being granted relaying - I am not sure, whether Yahoo and Google are granting this option.

Thank You for your response.

The same settings work fine in an email client, tested with both Microsoft Outlook on another computer and Mozilla thunderbird installed on the web server that's having the problem, i'm able to relay mail without issues.

The DNN email test returns "there is an error with your mail server configuration"

in a mail client, you would send using the account name, not another email address - that's why relaying is needed.
