I have a local development environment set up with the DNN site configured as dnndev.me (Echoes back to 127.0.0.1) which works as it should.  I am tying to evaluate a module for purchase that will run only under http://localhost.

I added 'localhost' as a DNN portal alias.  I confugured the default website in INETMGR to point to the same folder as does dnndev.me.

When I try to access the site through 'http://localhost' I get 'DNN ERROR Connection To The Database Failed"

I assume that I may be missing somthing simple, but I cannot figure out what it is.

(DNN 7.4, WIN8, IIS version: newest, cannot determine exact ver.)

solved it by assigning the dnndev.me application pool to the localhost site - Although it was assigned to the dnndev.me site (which is also 127.0.0.1), the default web site had the default application pool assigned.  Also had to recycle IIs to clear another error.
