Hi All,

I have a site running DNN 06.01.05 (142).  I'm trying to change some of the content that's on the header of the template by editing the index.ascx file, but the content is not changing.  Is there something else that I should be doing in order get the changed copy to appear?  I've cleared cache already a few times.  Do I need to recompile something? if so, is there a DNN built in tool to recompile?

there is no index.ascx, only default.aspx used as template, however, most of the content gets replaced during processing the page.
You should perform changes for each page in the skin file applied to your site.

Index.ASCX COULD be the skin file.

To the OP:
Are you sure you're modifying the correct file? Double-check which skin is applied to the page in question.

I'm not sure what you mean by there is no "index.ascx"? reason I'm saying that is this is the only file within the entire site architecture that actually contains the html code (links) that I'm trying to remove.  No other file on the site has this content.  In the header of the site, we have a logo.  To the right of the logo we have the login and contact us links.  Below that we have a few other outbound links (one of which I'm trying to remove).  This is the ONLY file that has these links in them and corresponds exactly to the layout of the header.

Even the JS code in this index.ascx file as the code on the site.

It seems to me (from what I can tell) that this file is the control file used by the skin for the header.  The default.aspx file doesn't have any content that resembles what's showing up in the header (by header I mean the visual header in the browser).

Do you happen to have any other suggestions where I should be looking? what other information can I provide to help identify where I should be looking?

In DoNetNuke.config I see this:

<skinningdefaults>

<skininfo folder="/MinimalExtropy/" default="index.ascx" admindefault="index.ascx" />

<containerinfo folder="/MinimalExtropy/" default="title_grey.ascx" admindefault="title_grey.ascx" />

</skinningdefaults>

and the file that I'm actually editing is located here:

/Portals/_default/Skins/MinimalExtropy/index.ascx

and like I said, its the only file that has the content that shows up on the "header" of the pages. 

The issue is that I change this file, and the changes are not reflected in the site.

Do you have any other suggestions?
