I found something I thought was odd.  The MemberDirectory module strips out the username in the results if the requesting user is NOT an administrator.

I've logged this in the dnn issue tracker- and was told it's for security reasons and it won't be changed.  I think it should be a site administrators choice whether or not usernames can be displayed within their portal just like every other user identifying profile property.  Sure have it off by default - but allow the site admin to CHOOSE and have to turn on the option.

I've posted this to the community voice and if you agree - could you please vote on it. http://www.dnnsoftware.com/voice/opti...

My main reason being that in a specialized community you can easily have multiple users w/ the same name.  This is when all communication get's blurred as the members need to decipher which "Andrew Walker" is which.  So the avatar becomes the "clear separator" in forums and postings.  But Avatars change and are quite often NOT a picture of the user themselves. In this use-case the username becomes the clear identifier of users and is most helpful to the community.

Yes - I could  just build my own implementation - but that just ignores a cleaner solution as it's all simply right there.
