After making a change to the site setting 'Use email address as username' I now can not login as host superuser. I have found the following information regarding the error but I can't login to make the change back. Please can anyone advise how I can manually change the site settings or resolve this issue?

Look forward to hearing from someone

https://dnntracker.atlassian.net/browse/DNN-4482

1. Login as host and create a new user
2. As host, go to Admin > Site Settings > User Account Settings
3. Check "Use Email Address as Username"
4. Logout as host
5. Login as the new user created

Expected result:

User can enter their email address and password and can login to the site

Actual result:

Login failed. Error message displayed as:

"Login Failed. Please remember that passwords are case sensitive"

Note: If host now goes back and un-checks "Use Email Address as Username" and clicks on update, user can login using their username.

The email as username option, I believe, needs to be checked BEFORE the users are created, otherwise their usernames are whatever they were created as.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your quick response.

Do you have any idea how I can change the setting back without logging in as host? I now can't login at all using either my email or username. I'm using DNN in a hosted Plesk environment.

I have been using DNN for sometime and really feeling the pressure on this one. Any help would be really appreciated. I thought I could just login and make the change back but now I'm getting "A critical error has occurred. Please check the Event Viewer for further details." when trying to login with my host account username and password. I can't get access to see the details of the error

Thanks again for your help

in your database you should check sitesettings table for a setting with an appropriate name (sorry, don't have a list at hand).
After you altered the value in the database you'll need to restart your website for the settings to become effective.
