I am trying to figure out what make the log file grow to 100MB in just a few hours.

I cannot find any errors in the database log, DNN event logs were full but I was able to truncate them. a few hours later dnn event logs are ok but the DB Log File .ldf  was full again.

The dnn version is 7.2.2 server is 2012  dnn running at 2005 compatibility level,  i may try an upgrade tonight after a backup but just case can anyone point me on how to troubleshot this issue. or the best practice before upgrade

Thank you so much

you should set compatibility level to max value (110).
If ldf is growing rapidly, there seem to be many activities going on.
You may try setting recovery model of the database to simple.
