Hi, a very odd thing has happened that has baffled me,  after investigating why some online forms were no longer working I discovered that the smtp address and my host email name and address etc in host settings seems to have been reset back to defaults (blank smtp and host@change.me). I will have to check all my settings  to see what else has been reset.

But left sctraching my head as to how this can happen???, have any of you guys experienced a similar situation.

I seem to remember this has happened once before in a smaller way but cannot remember how or why.

Hi there,

I have had this same issue,

On top of this an account named host and with host@change.me with super user rights was created without any prior permissions. we are on 7.4.2. Please respond as this is a major security risk. I traced back the IP and it was in Romainia. Has a vulnerability been found that is now getting exploited.

Thanks,

Michael

there is a known vulnerability in DNN 7, see 2016-04 at http://www.dnnsoftware.com/platform/m...
Unfortunately, there is no patch for DNN 7.

Cheers from Germany,

Thanks for that, just had a look and luckily we have no extra super user accounts so hopefully not the same issue as yours.

we already had this problem twice. we are using DNN 07.03.04.

Last week we found the email doesn't work suddenly. And found the SMTP settings were blank and Host email was changed to host@change.me.

We correct the smtp settings and changed the host password. Today it occurs again. Doesn't looks it is done by person.

I just checked host accounts, there is no extra host account found.
