I was doing database maintenance and noticed that certain users were not being added properly to the database. The users in question do not have their first name and last name filled out in the Users table. When I dug a little further I noticed that they are not being added to the UserProfile table correctly since I upgraded to 7.4.2

This is how they are being added to the UserProfile table:

ProfileID UserID PropertyDefinitionID PropertyValue PropertyText Visibility LastUpdatedDate
31975 2196 2 joebagadonutz NULL 0 2016-02-09
31976 2196 4 joebagadonutz NULL 0 2016-02-09

This is how they are for all of the users that have been created before the upgrade:

ProfileID UserID PropertyDefinitionID PropertyValue PropertyText Visibility LastUpdatedDate
31975 2196 2 joebagadonutz NULL 0 2016-02-09
31976 2196 4 joebagadonutz NULL 0 2016-02-09
31975 2196 44 joebagadonutz NULL 0 2016-02-09
31976 2196 46 joebagadonutz NULL 0 2016-02-09

The PropertyDefinitionID 2,4 are FirstName, LastName for the default portal id(NULL)

The PropertyDefinitionID 44,46 are FirstName, LastName for the portal id(1) that I expect them to be in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Mike

in DNN 7 and 8, first name and last name are primarily taken from the user profile table.
if you add users to a second site, you need to fill in at least these two profile property values.

That's what I am saying they are being added to the portal (1) but their fields are not being populated from the default user profile. The first table is how my users are being created now, which is wrong. The table below that is how they were created before the 7.4.2 upgrade.

Maybe this is a better presentation. The top 4 records were created prior to the 7.4.2 upgrade, the bottom two records are what's being created now with the 7.4.2 upgrade. This causes the Users table to be missing the FirstName and LastName fields. Hope this is a little more clear.

there is just a Facebook discussion going on about firstname and lastname updates in userprofile and users record upon updates. There seem to be a change in 7.4.2 or 8.0.0, which breaks some sync process, but it is not clear, what causes it. Please log your finding into the public issue tracker at http://support.dnnsoftware.com.
