Hi

When adding some portals I got a few module load expections as stated below.
This is probably because I entered some dodgy details in and it didn't get trapped.
I now can't edit these portals (error message is displayed when I edit them), and therefore cannot delete them, other portals work fine however.
How can I cleanly delete these dodgy portals, files + database?
I am using 4.0.3.

This is a major issue for me so any help here will be appreciated. I'm just about to upload my first DNN portal.

Many thanks!!!!!

Alex

I had the same issue, I loaded up a module and it crashed the site. What I did to get it up and running quickly was; 1) manually delete all files pertaining to the bad module, including all dll’s from the bin folder. 2) I then restored my database from a previous date.

What I learned is that there are still many sketchy modules floating around out there; backup your database before loading any modules!

Thanks Jesus!

This error happened when adding a portal, not adding a module.

Unfortunately I don't have a backup either (forgive me Jesus for I have sinned) so what I need to do is clean up the bad portals in my database, or work out why these error messages are happening (seems like a bad template at the moment, maybe that template is missing vital data?).

This guy had the same issue:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/107/threadid/22107/scope/posts/Default.aspx

Possible solution here, but nothing definitive:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/107/threadid/25525/scope/posts/Default.aspx

So has anybody made any progress here? if so PLEASE do drop a comment or give me your advise.

Cheers

Alex

Just to tidy up this thread, I recovered in the end. Now running 4.3.3.

There are still major issues with exporting/importing in portals though: DNNP-3708

Cheers

Alex
