DotNetNuke Pros,

Please help.

How can one gather page-view metrics from DotNetNuke 8?

Please advise.

In short, for one case, I have a custom module on a given page, and I want to know how often the page is views, and perhaps other things like who (username) has viewed it, on what dates it has been viewed, etc-- AKA page metrics, AKA view metrics, AKA site usage metrics, etc.

Is there some existing setting that one can "turn on" in DotNetNuke 8?

Or maybe this data is already captured somewhere? If yes, then where?

Etc.

(I know there might be a custom module somewhere that can do it, but right now I cannot build anything, I cannot buy or use a custom module, and I certainly cannot use Google Analytics. So, it is either "use something built in" or "build something custom myself" for me at this time.)

What do you think?

Thanks.

Most people use Google Analytics and add the Tracking ID under Admin -> Google Analytics in DNN.

Sadly for me, I cannot use Google Analytics.

Well if you cannot use a custom module, this might not be a solution for you, but if you can find a way around that, then here is this.

Dnn used to have that feature but it was removed in Dnn 8 for multiple reasons including some performance. So I would certainly not use that if you have a lot of traffic but what was removed from Dnn 8 was extracted into it's own module and is available here https://github.com/DNNCommunity/DNN.S...

Please note that this module might not have long time support but it _should_ work up to the latest available version of Dnn as of today...

And it is open source so if you want to maintain and improve it, you are welcome to do so and if you just want to copy it and customize it to your needs, you can too.
