I have been working on upgrading one of our client's sites to DNN 9.2.2 from 8.0.4 for quite a while. I finally replaced the last deprecated module that was blocking the upgrade, and have been testing upgrading copies of the site.
We are having show-stopping issues with CK Editor. Up until now, the site has used RadEditor, which is no longer fully compatible with DNN 9.2.2.
In CK Editor, the 'Browse Server' feature when selecting an image to add in an HTML module is almost unusable.
- On first click, it takes 90 seconds to load the dialog.
- When selecting an image or folder, it redraws the pane, which takes several seconds, and scrolls the folder tree to the top.
The site has nearly a thousand pages and the folder structure used to keep images organized is both large and deep. Having to relocate where you are in the folder tree after each click is a problem for the site's section editors.
In RadEditor, it would take a few seconds to load the tree, but once loaded, navigating the tree and selecting images was speedy and did not cause redraws.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems with CK Editor on a large site? What can I do to address them?
I've found two potential solutions so far, though I'm not happy with either:
- Continue using RadEditor and ignore the errors is generates in the event viewer.
- Switch to Mandeeps Live HTML, which is a completely different module.
