Hi, I'd like to know if anybody knows of any "master page" concept in DotNetNuke.

For example, I have a page with 5 modules with specific module settings that I'd like to replicate on about 50 or more pages. The only catch is that each module has to contain different content (i.e., text in a text/html module).

Ideally, I'd like to be able have it so that if I decided to move one module above another module, then it would take effect in every page that contains this layout; or if I changed the container for a module, it would take effect on every module in the same position on every page in the layout.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to do this, or if there is some sort of clever way around this problem using the features already built into DotNetNuke? Are there any plug-ins that will help us solve this problem?

Thanks,
Kenny

there is a new feature added providing page templates in DotNetNuke 3.3.x/4.3.x, you can specify when creating a new page. Unfortunately there is no gererator available at the moment, you will need to create a portal template and remove content before renaming it.

I am unclear of what you mean by this. Page templates sound like what we need, but is there a way to control a number of pages from one template? For example, if I were to create 50 pages from one template, then change the template, would each page automatically change as well?

Thanks,

A template is not a master page. After it is created, it has no connection with the template anymore.

A template consists of page settings (including skin and container selection) and a list of empty modules placed on it.

You can create a skin and container and changes on the skin/container will affect all pages/midules, that have the skin/container assigned, but you cannot control the placement of modules.

Okay - call me crazy (you're crazy) but i can't seem to find how to edit/add the page templates. Any guidance you can give on this one?

Thanks
