hi

im a new dnn user, and i dont have much experience with asp either

i created a dnn portal, and uploaded it, but going to the site i get the message:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

i have no idea what the problem is, PLEASEEEEE can you professionals give me some help

tnx

First you need to follow the instructions on that message and set the customErrors mode="Off" in your web.config

Then get the real error and paste it back here.

We'll be waiting....

well i fixed that problem and now i have a new one, the main page comes up but all the links are broken, going to dsvr001616.ali.com/....

i replace dsvr001616.ali.com with my sites name and the page opens up, but still a lot of problems persist

it says in my host settings that dsvr... is my alias, but i cant delete it or anything

how do i stop dnn going to this alias?
