Hello there

I'm having juge problems with asigning roles to special users.

I have a

1. I have a portal which is a father portal, the third one on my installation of dnn.

2. I made a role names: "Content Admins"

3. I have asigned some users to this role.

4. I have configured some modules to be editable by the "Content Admins" role.

Now, Whenever one of them is loged in, he can see some of the modules, he can edit only some parts and not all - like the text/html module which can be edited only direct on the text but ther is not "edit" link below it...

This is running on a live site with domain.

When I tried it on my localhost, I got something different - I was thrown to the main page and got this error:
"Object is not set to an instance of an object" - and was not logged in at all...

All I wanna do is asign some jobs to different admins, but don't want them to be super users...

Does anyone know what's going on???

Thanks
Eden

You need to turn off the Cache time setting in modules that you want to be edited by roles other than administrators.

This is a bug and will be fixed in the next release due out very soon.

Thanx!

It's working now...

yes, it is a bug. I should have the ability to cache these objects too.

Thanks again!

Hi J

I was too rush to be happy about it.

It seems that there r still problems with it. Especially with the text/html modules.

My special roles cannot edit it in the form page, but only in the text on the page itself... There is no "Edit" link on the bottom of the module.

Also, How can I make it possible for the special user to only edit a module, and not get all the actions from the drop down module menu..

thanx

Eden

Sorry, not much else I can help you with on that one.

There isn't a way to limit the actions that an editor can perform without modifying the module to add actions for specific "other" roles.
