Hi, I wish to set up multiple domains on DNN 4. When I set up a new portal, the default Home Directory is Portals/[PortalID]. What does this represent? When I use File Manager I can see Portal Root. Is this the same as Portals? Should I create a folder for each domain, and would that be the PortalID?

 

I have a hunch that I am thinking FTP vs. DNN, but some help would be appreciated. Is there some documentation that I could read?

Hi, thanks but that wasn't really what I meant.

 

I mean if I have 3 (or more) domains pointed to the nameserver of my DNN site, like www.mydomain1.com, www.mydomain2.com, and www.mydomain3.com, all completely different websites, and I have parent portals for each, using a portal alias for each one, should they all point to the same Home Directory - Portals/[PortalID]?

The short answer is no. When you create a portal in DNN, the "home directory" for that portal is automatically created. The directory is a number corresponding to the ID of the portal in the DNN Portals table. Thus, for every portal that exists in an instance of DNN, there will be one folder that is the designated home directory for that folder. The number of portal aliases associated with a portal or whether the portal is a parent or child portal is not a factor in determining the home directory.
