Brand new fresh install of DNN 4.3.4 (don't even want to talk about the upgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.3.3) and everything seems fine and maybe I just don't understand the rules of the system but I have two portal sites.

The main site I set up the initial users who need admin accounts ... then I go to the next portal site and try to set them up there ... but it says that their usernames already exist. ?!?!? If I select to list all users from the user account page they don't show up ... they can't log into the site ... so somehow they do exist when it come to signing them up but they don't exist when it comes to actually logging into the site.

I haven't even edited any of the pages .... this is as fresh as an install as I can manage. Why can't I sign these users up for the second portal site?

I think I remember reading somewhere that you can't have users with the same name AND password across portals - are you trying to give them the same password?

Change it and see if that helps (they can change it back later)

That was a great suggestion ... but it didn't work. I cannot imagine that this is how it is supposed to work, otherwise if you are creating a hosting platform you would quickly run into username conflicts so I believe that I either have it configured incorrectly or I am not doing things in the right order.

More on this ... this seems to only be an issue when attempting to create an account through the User Accounts page ... the same uaername and password that was denied when I attempted to create it in the User Accounts page went through fine when I registered like I was an average user. Then I went in and gave the account administrator rights.

Does this make sense?

Well, ignore my previous post ... apparently I hadn't tried that username perviously as I still have the same issue. I cannot create a user with the same username in different portals. This would not be an issue if the users could log into any of the portals but they cannot.
