I don't understand why I got this error. Tried searching Google and DNN Forums but no result.

I'm working on a site with many subportals and I prefer using only 1 Administrator account for more than one portal. But after 1 day assigning an existing user to a new subportal (that user's already an admin of another portal) and everything was working as expected, I suddenly can't login! Whenever I try to login, it throws an error : "A critical error has occured. Object referrence not set to an instance of an object".

When logged in as host, I edit that user's account...The weird thing is that all the information of that user's recent activities disappeared, everything from Created date, Last login date, Locked date.....I can still edit roles for that account but if I try to change it's password, it gives an exact error as mentioned above.

And there's nothing in Log Viewer at all.

Also tried to login in Firefox, got the same result.

I'm using DNN 3.3.4 upgraded from 3.2.2

Has anyone been through this? I desperately need help!

We had a similar problem and solved it this way:
Create a new user with admin rights.
Then trashed the "old" admin.
And recreated it with the same credentials.

Not beautiful, but it worked

Thanks for replying but I won't choose that solution. I let my users create their own portal, so I can't delete and recreate their account again and again and again...

What I'm gonna do is make a brand-new DNN site, just like demo.dotnetnuke.com with no registering. Surely it'll work, unless the Dotnetnuke site gets that error so often

What I'm curious about is WHY. Why did we get that error? Why hasn't anyone except for me mentioned this? I must did something wrong. I'm using TRT Control Panel instead of the standard Control Panel but I don't think it has anything to do with this. And may be Blowery Web Compression doesn't neither. Any idea?

I just remembered that once we had this problem with people either using the wrong credentials or someone trying to hack the site.
The admin user was locked for security reasons and when we unlocked it the problem was solved.

But I think you problem is more serious.
To be honest, I have no idea....
