I've spent quite a bit of time combing through forums and the DNN site trying to find an answer to this need, but I haven't been able to find it yet, so I'm hopinng someone here can help.

I have a neighborhood parents' association Web site where we want to add a password-protected area with a searchable member directory.  It needs to be flexible to add information and group information (e.g. be able to see all the families in the area with kids 2-3 years old).  I want the parents to be able to add and update their own information, but I will approve their registration to access the area in DNN.

Does anyone know if this exists?  I'm hosting with GoDaddy.com, so I need something I can easily install/add to DNN 4.0.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Susan

Susan-

I was wondering what you are doing for your directory, did you find a module? I am looking at having a directory also, and having the members create and update their information and have categories and subcategories to sort by. I was looking at using the repository module but the version out right now won't work for me because I need different fields in my form. My website has been on hold since February because I haven't found anything else to work yet. Any suggestions...

From what you described, let me see if I can map DNN membership/roles to your needs

1.  User create/update their information:  use DNN user registration/profile for this?  You can customize the Profile to collect additional information from users.

2.  Major category - can this be mapped to DNN Groups (available in DNN 3.3 and 4.3)?

3.  Sub-Category - can this be mapped to DNN Security Roles?

Robert.

Thanks.  By "customize" do you mean I'd need to know .NET?  I don't see a way to edit the module otherwise.  The module I have in GoDaddy is "User Account" -- is that the same as user registration/profile?

I also don't see a list of registered users when I log in as a regular subscriber.  Maybe I'm missing something...
