Hi All,

OK, so I've been messing around with DNN and I've managed to break it twice doing the same thing so I'm hoping that one of you DNN gurus out there can help me understand what I did so that I don't do it again.

What I Did
========
DNN was installed and functioning correctly. I could open the site, log in to it, etc.

I then tried to restrict access to my DNN site to specific Windows users that I specify. In other words I didn't want just anyone with an account on the box to be able to view the site - I wanted to specifically have to give them permissions on the DNN directory.

I went into IIS and turned off Anonymous access.

Then I went to the DNN directory and set a "Deny" rule for the "Users" group by checking the "Full Control" check box under the "Deny" column. The idea here was I wanted to block all users and then I was going to create a new group with the specific users that I wanted to access the site.

This is when all hell broke lose. Ever since that point I receive the error shown below when I try to view the site. I tried removing the "Deny" rule. I tried giving every account listed in ACL full control over the DNN directory. I tried rebooting the box. Nothing worked. No matter what I do, I still receive the same error.

Error Message
==========
Server Error in '/' Application.

Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

Assembly Load Trace: The following information can be helpful to determine why the assembly 'DotNetNuke.Events.WebControls' could not be loaded.

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].

Personally, I would just role back those IIS settings and start over especially if this was an intitial install with no data.  Just so you know, DNN is designed for you to manage your USER ROLES within the portal itself.
