When ever I browse the site from any browser local or remote, Dnn changes the url from http:\\mydnnsite.net to http:\\localhost\mydnnsite

Of course only the local server where the site is installed will find the site.

Does anyone know what is going on?

I'm using dnn 4.3.5 install. It has installed with no problems except this one.

you need to add the external url to the portal alias list. login into the portal from local machine as host and go to portals in site settings. select your portal and add the new domain to the portal alias list at the bottom of the page.

DEPLOYMENT  MOVE TO NEW SERVER PROBLEM

I downloaded 4.3.5 and  developed a portal  site on http://localhost/DNN but when  I tried to access the site from  other clients i,e http://isthost/DNN  Id get a 404 error-Page Not found.

Ok  so I  read up and researched  the forums (where the collective brilliance of the human race resides :-)  and determined   that I  needed a portal alias.  Added portal alias and  it Works, added modules ... configured a nice  test system

Now I copied the whole web directory   over to a stageing server http://iststage/DNN but kept the database the same.  I did not see anything to change in web.config.  When I goto to the site http://iststage/DNN it performs a redirect to
http://isthost/dnn.

I searched all files in /DNN/*  and no string localhost or isthost
I looked in the most of the table in the data base I see the portal alias.

I can't seem to deploy this  site  to another server .

I added a the port alias http://iststage/DNN but it still redirects to the isthost server!!!

Do you have other  portal entries???

One trick is to add the portal alias before moving to the new site. Are you sure you added the portal alias to the proper portal in the proper database?  (It happens.)

The second trick is to make sure IIS has Enabled Default Documents and is handling default.aspx for the new website under properties|documents tab.

I hope this is of some help to you.
