I need to alter the user registration code to write a few of the fields to an additional database.  I need to be able to write the users first name, last name, userid and password to another table in a separate SQL db residing on the same server at the same time as I write to the DNN table when the user registers.  How can I do this?

To make this alteration easier (I hope)  I have merged the other database into the one DNN uses.  Now it's a matter of just writing these fields to an additional table.  It doesn't even have to happen when a new user registers - it only needs to happen when an admin adds a new user.  Hope this simplifies things and I hope someone can help.  Thanks

Any progress on this, tombstone?  I want to do the exact same thing!

Nope!  Nobody seems to want to help out with this.  There must be somebody who can give us an answer.  Please...  Pretty please?!

Here are a couple of ideas.

First, to Tombstone, it seems you are only a few SQL command scripts from accomplishing the task. I do not know SQL commands but I am fortunate to have a good friend who is an unbelievably talented programmer. He said it would be no problem to import such data into the new database. My context was somewhat different from yours. I had 300 usernames, profiles, and passwords to import into a database. He was certainly ready to help me, but I decided not to burden him with the task just yet since it happens to be the case that accessing and writing to the database of a DNN installation at GoDaddy is very hard. (If you are not using GoDaddy, and it would seem you are not, then based on what he has told me, you're almost done with your task as you have described it.) You might get lucky and find a generous programmer friend to help.

Second, because I decided to continue looking, I found that John Mitchell (from these forums) has written an XML script to transfer exactly what you want from database A to database B.

Third, Chad Nash at Data Springs, Inc., is currently beta testing a new product which is designed for exactly this task if you export or create your existing data into either a .CSV or .XLS file. His product will then accomplish the import of users into your newer database along with a host of other features. I've been beta testing this product for a week or so and it isn't quite functional, but I can tell it's close to being so.

Hope this helps. Ask away!
