I would like to ask what the best approach to doing regular backups and maintenance of a DNN site would be. We are well into building our own DNN based Intranet site. We are running W2003 Server, with ASP.Net 2.0, SQL Server Express 2005, IIS 6.0, and DNN ver. 4.34

Are there ways to easily backup and restore not only to the same machine but to a different machine the whole DNN site and/or the SQL Server Express 2005 database?

If you backup your database does this get all your content?

Does anyone know of any documentation someone may have on a website that shows like a best practice to go about doing regular maintenance of a DNN site?

Thanks in advance for your help.

These are all great questions. I look forward to seeing the answers from experts. What I do know from having had a couple of Web DNN sites is that generally folks on the forums will tell you that you can recreate a site by backing up the database, exporting the templates of the pages, and then copying certain file folders within the DNN structure, including the web.config file which contains keys needed to recreate database logins. Ironically, I plan to do exactly all of these steps in the next day. I have had a DNN 4.0.2 site up and running since May. I've deployed an updated version of DNN (4.3.5) on a local installation on my home computer, and now I'm going to attempt to copy the site in full ( commonmancomputing. c o m ) on this new local installation. I'll let you know how it goes! Travis

Hi,
Those modules (BackupScript or BackupNative) can help.
