I would like to change my GoDaddy DNN root directory.  I did not really understand the implications of specifying this directory when I loading the app so I put it in a directory called "dotnetnuke".  Now that I have built my site I am told by GoDaddy support that I cannot park my web in the root of my domain name.  So I had to create a blank Index.htm with a Redirect Meta Tag to send my visitors to the /dotnetnuke directory.  With this said I would like to change the directory name where my dotnetnuke is loaded to something shorter and less obvious. Not that I don't like the "dotnetnuke" name, but it may be confusing to my visitors. :-)

Ok, so if I understand what you are asking.. You want to know HOW to change the name of that directory?  Ok, well, you can change the name of the directory with an FTP program.  But then once you do that you may notice that your site is no longer available.  You will have to edit the PortalAlias table in your database so that it properly reflects the new name of the folder.  It'll be something like this:  domain/folder

kfayal's idea seems like a good one.

When I do DNN installs on GoDaddy, I always put the root installation into a folder (which of course is a virtual folder at GoDaddy) with just one letter. So like:
www.commonmancomputing.com/y/

If you need assistance to change the Portal Alias table(s) just let me know.

Thanks,
Travis

I've had this problem with GoDaddy before as well. I had to remove the DNN starter kit and then re-install it into a different folder.

Yes you are correct.

Being the first time I've used Dotnetnuke and not knowing any better I told the Godaddy install application to use /dotnetnuke/  as the install directory.  I wrongly assumed that once I built my site I could move it to my root domain.  After building my site I read in the Godaddy Help Forum that you cannot park the dotnetnuke application in your root directory.  I do not want to remove the app and re-install it.  I don't want to loose my work.

So to make the site URL look better I thought I would rather have a folder name like /home/ rather than /dotnetnuke/.

I have tried both the Godaddy FTP utility and a utility called Web Explorer Lite (Wexlite) and neither will show me the /dotnetnuke/ folder.  How do I find it?
